Game Setup
Last time on Dragons of Despair: The heroes tried to hold up in the rooms in and around the secret tunnel, but were quickly discovered by a pair of Ogres searching for Sunstar, the missing Que-Shu prisoner. With Flint completely out of the fight until he can recuperate, and with Sar tending to him, the heroes were forced to eliminate the ogres and dispose of their bodies in the secret tunnel. They left with Sar to the Glup Clan rooms where they stayed for a day. Once Flint was up again they were forced out of the rooms by some disgruntled Glup clan members who called the guard and forced them out. They returned to the western falls and headed toward the Great Plaza. They oversaw a massive black dragon whispering to a dragonman and seven gully dwarves. They fanned out in search of something as the dragon left. Four of the gully dwarves approached the heroes telling them they were looking for an escaped prisoner and ended up going on their way. The heroes moved toward the Pillars of the Palace and into the prisoner halls. They came across some different dragonmen who could use magic! As they fought and killed one, it exploded. Flint and Sturm went searching for Raven-Eye, Sunstar’s partner who they found near death. They brought him back to the group as the others were struggling with this single draconian who had cast a whole host of spells in his defence. Will the heroes defeat it before reinforcements arrive?
About DL1 Dragons of Despair
You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.
For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors-that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.
“Dragon of Despair” is the first in TSR’s series of Dragonlance adventures for use with the AD&D game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire Dragonlance story.
An adventure for characters Level 4-6.
Written by Tracy Hickman.
