Game Setup
Last time on Dragons of Despair: The heroes heard a gong and saw the Aghar dwarves rushing to the now empty black iron pot. One tells them that there is another way down, and as they get in, the pot starts dropping. They also hear sounds of more beings descending the circular staircase. Jasper, Kel, and Ben tell the others to go and give the Forge Hammer of Reorx to Lyreal. They all find a sewer pipe which broke into the wall and started down it, upsetting the Aghar who were climbing up it. They ended up slipping and falling into an old bakery and discovered part of the city streets down below. They learned that the Disks of Mishakal were in the Court of the Balance from Ossamis, a spectral sage, but when they tried to sleep in the ruined library, wraiths interrupted them and nearly killed everyone. As Lyreal was alone, she knew she had to try and recharge the staff. As she returned to the pipe, she found Kel wandering around. He relayed that Jasper and Ben had died in the onslaught above. He accompanied you to Mishakal’s Form to recharge the hammer and you perform the Greater Restoration on everyone after one more trip. You now have to make a final trip to recharge after healing.
About DL1 Dragons of Despair
You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.
For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors-that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.
“Dragon of Despair” is the first in TSR’s series of Dragonlance adventures for use with the AD&D game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire Dragonlance story.
An adventure for characters Level 4-6.
Written by Tracy Hickman.
