Game Setup
Last time on Dragons of Despair: Alford was investigating the rumors of demons invading Abanazinia from the north when he arrived at the occupied Solace. He was confronted in the Inn of the Last Home by an elderly gentleman in mousy colored robes who seemed to know him. He told him he was late and not supposed to be here. Then he whispered some arcane words and Alford was teleported to a dungeon. There he came across Lyreal and Kel who were racing back from the Statue of Mishakal in the temple down to the ruins where their wounded companions resided. They all took time resting and getting to know each other. Even the kender Milo seemed to be different from the encounter with the Wraiths. The heroes decided to move toward the southern structure where they had to pass the precarious stream flowing through the Treasury Court. When they entered the Treasury they were addressed by a Spectral Minion Clerc who called Milo Kathal, and demanded his tax of 500 clay Tsarothian Culli. When they couldn’t pay the clerk saw them as imposters and sent his Spectral Guard Minions after them. They defeated the minions and in the vault they discovered dimension doors which took them to the ruins of the Treasury Tower in the lower level. They began to explore the tunnels and quickly realized the precarious position the ruined city is in, nestled on the side of the cliff over the New Sea.
About DL1 Dragons of Despair
You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.
For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors-that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.
“Dragon of Despair” is the first in TSR’s series of Dragonlance adventures for use with the AD&D game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire Dragonlance story.
An adventure for characters Level 4-6.
Written by Tracy Hickman.
