Game Setup
Last time on Tyranny of Dragons: The heroes hear more cultists moving toward them through the fog shrouded open courtyard and fall back to the barracks. They did their best to barricade the doors, but the stone giants Wiglof and Hulda, disturbed by the battle cries, opened the doors. The cultists swarmed in and as Wiglof tried to stop the battle. He grew tired of no one doing as he demanded. As the cultists’ bodies stacked up, he thumped the heroes to get their attention. Then Rezmir entered. She demanded that Wiglof retrieve the cloud giant Blagothkus. Finally fed up with these troublesome heroes, and now faced with forcing Blagothkus’ hand as an aide to the Cult, she faced the heroes in battle. The heroes were battle weary, and most were still missing their weapons, yet they still defeated Rezmir in the end. However, it came with a cost. Gunnar Thorvald lay dead, his soul on its way to the Gate of Souls. In a moment of exhaustion and desperation, Seto Hoshiko made a plea to his unknown patron: “I will pay the price if you bring Gunnar back.” His patron, the lich Fistandantilus, accepted the offer and intercepted Gunnar before he could pass over. He took his soul and gave Gunnar life, leaving Seto absent of all of his magic. As Blagothkus arrived, he saw what remained of the black dragonspawn Wyrmspeaker, but knew the vampire Sandesyl Morgia was still crawling around, one of the first members of the cult. Not to mention Lord Knight Terence Forsyth and Azbara Jos, both members of the Darkhaven Dark Knight dealing with the Cabal of the Code. He demanded the heroes complete their assignment of eliminating the Cultists before dawn. They raced to collect their weapons and stumbled into the Darkhaven knights’ room, but left as quickly as they entered. That is when Sandesyl made her stand. In the end, Garrick was charmed, her vampire spawn were fleeing, turned by Vaelith harnessing the divine wrath of Sirrion, Seto and Elemier lay dead, and Gunnar and K’thriss lay unconscious. Vaelith bargained with Blagothkus and fled the citadel on wyvern back. With the future uncertain, are the heroes lost? Will Takhisis be resurrected with no one to stand against her? And will the Dark Knights of Neraka band together with the Cabal of the Code and fight for her? The only thing for certain is this: Dark days lie ahead for Krynn.
As Vaelith is racing to the stables, he hears an alarm go off, clearly triggered by Blagothkus. Then he sees three griffons with riders break through the clouds illuminated by the setting moon Solinari, which turn to land in the upper courtyard.
