Game Setup

Last time on Tyranny of Dragons: The heroes defeated Trepsin the Troll and his ambush drakes and continued moving into the Hunting Lodge. They heard a female voice calling out from the second floor for a meeting and believing it to be Rezmir, they charged up and were disarmed by seeing a Half Elf and three guards. Surprisingly, albeit rudely, Talis offers the heroes a deal. She admits to have been passed up in a promotion by Rezmir the Black Dragonspawn Wyrmspeaker to a Duergar named Varram and now in order to rise in the ranks she must see others fail spectacularly. The heroes learn some important information: The Cult of the Dragon is a front for the Cabal of the Code, the secret police force of the Dark Knights stationed out of Neraka. This is nothing short of a coup attempt by the Cabal to unify the disparate factions of the Dark Knights in a time when they are at their most disorganized. The resurrection of Takhisis seems to be less important/plausible to some in the Cabal than the promise of global superiority over Ansalon. Whether every member of the Cabal believes this or not is unknown. Talis promises them knowledge about why the ‘Cult’ is collecting the treasure, where it is being currently stored, and how to access it IF they promise to kill Rezmir in the process. Surprisingly this takes some serious debate by the heroes, but they eventually agree believing it to be a magical geas if agreed to. The Cabal has been collecting a hoard of treasure for Takhisis and are transporting it somewhere in the Flying Citadel that was used in the Blue Lady’s War. It has been claimed by Giants and used by the Cabal. As far as the heroes know Rezmir and Azbera Jos are both aboard which brings up a potential problem. Azbara Jos is a Knight of Darkhaven, the same splinter organization of the Dark Knights that sent Seto Hoshiko to investigate the Cult. With many Dark Knight factions within factions working to opposite ends, his intentions remain a mystery. The heroes climb down the mountain suffering from the harsh environment and meet Jamna. She turns out to be the night hag Jkeauu come to claim a soul, which she does in K’thriss. What impact it will have is yet unknown, but the heroes head to Bright Hart and enter a cultist controlled village with the Flying Citadel ready to depart. They get into some minor trouble but Jamna Gleamsilver reappears and helps them out. As they approach the citadel they see Rezmir declaring they are not to board as the drawbridge slowly raises. Will any of the three passwords given to them help them board the citadel before it leaves, “They shall rise!”, “Takhisis, Our Mother and Strength”, “Hail Blagothkus” or are they cleverly delivered tools to foment their own destruction? Let’s find out!
