Game Setup

Last time on Dragons of Despair: The heroes went past the great well to investigate the temple entrance. Once inside they saw a statue of Mishakal, the goddess of healing and Dougan Redhammer arrived. He told them that they needed to find the Disks of Mishakal deep in the bowels of Xak Tsaroth, in the lair of the dragon. But if they go and present the Forge Hammer of Reorx boldly, never wavering, they shall prevail in claiming them. He then recharged the hammer which they used to bring back their fallen comrades. While they were bringing them back they continued exploring the temple. They found some Baaz Draconians which they dispatched and some Aghar dwarves who were searching for some treasure for their Highbulp King down below. They drew a map for the heroes to the Highbulp and left. The heroes also heard gongs every half hour, so they continued down some stairs to investigate and found a massive pulley system that brought dragonians and Aghar up and down from below. The Draconians attacked them, but some got away. Now the heroes’ presence is known.

About DL1 Dragons of Despair

You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.

For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors-that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.

“Dragon of Despair” is the first in TSR’s series of Dragonlance adventures for use with the AD&D game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire Dragonlance story.

An adventure for characters Level 4-6.
