Game Setup
Last time on Dragons of Despair: Asherr tried to follow the old man from the Inn of the Last Home and ended up in the Que Kiri and then Que Shu tribe. He noticed the tracks the companions made heading into Sageway East and came upon them, reuniting them all together. They headed out the next morning and noticed dark clouds on the northern horizon. They came across two giant boars and worked together to take them down, harvesting some much needed fresh meat before continuing on. Once on the other side of the Forbidden Mountains they saw the vast New Sea stretch past the horizon. They were not sure whether they should turn north or south but Asherr had a map in his pockets which showed Xak Tsaroth to the north. THey entered some plains and were stopped by what appeared to be road bandits. After parleying with them they realized they were in fact refugees fleeing an army in the north and were waylaid by lizard men with a bunch of plainsmen slaves. They decided to offer the women and children with them some of the boar meat and Jasper healed one woman’s missing leg. The miracle turned the would-be raiders into believers in the kindness of mankind. As they continued to the north the terrain became swampy and the sky overcast. They camped for a night and in the morning began their final trek to Xak Tsaroth. Then they were covered in the shadow of a dragon. Not wanting to accept the truth they saw with their own eyes, and filled with fear, they all hid and the shadow moved on. They have discovered finally that there is truth in the old children’s tales. As they continued on, they came face to face with two more robed beings. Let’s find out what they want.
About DL1 Dragons of Despair
You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.
For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors-that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.
“Dragon of Despair” is the first in TSR’s series of Dragonlance adventures for use with the AD&D game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire Dragonlance story.
An adventure for characters Level 4-6.
Written by Tracy Hickman.
