40 years for any story or property is a real accomplishment. I call them legacy brands – being roughly 2 generations old. Just how many games, books and movies come out each year and are forgotten in all of five minutes? Dragonlance hitting 40 years is very much worth honoring.
In the spirit of that old-school goodness, I wanted to present something kind of fun – a hand-drawn set of 12 character portraits (graphite!) inspired by Chronicles. I have plans to rework and paint them in the near future, but here they are for now.
Also, if you’re at all familiar with Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf gamebooks, I illustrated a very similar collection of 12 characters for Holmgard Press, as Lone Wolf is also celebrating its 40th anniversary alongside Dragonlance.
