I started with the red box in the 80’s. When ADnD 2e was released i played a few sessions of it in Dragonlance a a local DnD club. I played some kender by the name of Tasslehof. I had no knowledge of Dragonlance.
I couldn’t play for some time. Played some becmi (and Heroquest) with my brother and friends.
Years later i went with my soon to be wife to a party of her sister. I met her new boyfriend who was wearing a Dragonlance T-shirt!
Not enough time for our stories that day.
We became friends. He married my sister in law. We introduced our wives into DnD and Dragonlance. We all read the core novels. And played Dragonlance (3.5) for years. Long weekends with sleepovers, ate spiced potatoes and other recipes from the inn of the last home.
The last years we got more busy in our lives and stopped playing together.
At this moment i play 5e since it’s release, have a pretty steady group since. Can’t find the players interested in some of the older editions and Dragonlance. We have fun, but i miss the old days.
I still collect Dragonlance, have almost all the novels ( about 6 more and i’m complete).
