Campaign Overview

Welcome to Dragonlance. Dragonlance is a high-fantasy, war-torn campaign setting which centers around the balance of power between good and evil. We are in the year 435 Alt Cataclius (52 Secundus Cataclius), the Age of Mortals. Since the Chaos War which defined the beginning of this age, the people of Ansalon have been forced to deal with the absence of the Gods, the loss of Divine and Arcane Magic, the discovery of Wild Sorcery and the Power of the Heart, the Dragon Purge, Dragon Overlords, The War of Souls, the return of the Gods and Divine and Arcane Magic, the Death of Takhisis, the Queen of Darkness, Paladine, the Platinum Dragon stepped down as a god and became a mortal elf named Valthonis, the Walking God (421 AC/38 SC), and Mina the champion of the War of Souls was revealed to be a God herself and is now known as the Goddess of Tears serving the balance of good and evil. The gods are actively vying for control in the heavens and the mortals of Krynn are vying for control on Ansalon as old empires have expanded, new empires have formed, and they are ever changing. The myriad of organizations of Ansalon are struggling to deal with the changing times and the common folk of Krynn are caught in the middle.

Campaign Concepts

  • This is an adventure that will take your characters from 1–15th level. If you are unable to join a session, someone else will play your character. If you miss three consecutive sessions, I will ask you to leave the campaign as you have missed a month and a half and clearly cannot devote the time to the game.
  • This is a PG-13 game, so let’s refrain from dropping f-bombs and overtly suggestive situations. If there are any triggers you have, please email me privately and we will address them moving forward. If during play, you find yourself triggered, shoot me a text, and I will adjust the situation. We will be dealing with adult situations in adult ways, and your characters will find themselves in morally ambiguous situations. Play your characters, not yourselves! There must be a reason why you make choices and it should be derived from your alignment, race, culture, and the situation.

Character Creation

  • You do not have to be a good aligned character, but you do have to have a reason for being in the party and be able to work with the party. You will need to play your alignment, as in Dragonlance there are repercussions for failing to do so!
  • I am referencing DLA Dragonlance Adventures for the effects of Handling, Tinkering, Organizations, and the effects of the Moons on Magic. All forms of magic are controlled by the Orders of High Sorcery. Once you reach 3rd level, you will need to take the Test of High Sorcery and join the Order or be considered a Renegade, hunted down, and destroyed. If you do not advance past 3rd level in magic, then it won’t affect you.
  • Clerics are either a part of the Holy Order of the Stars or the Citadel of Light. This includes the Holy Warriors of Kiri-Jolith.
  • There are three main orders of Knights, Knights of Solamnia, The Dark Knights of Neraka, formerly Knights of Takhisis, and the Legion of Steel. You will need to be inducted into one of them if you wish to join them.
  • Races are reskinned as follows: Halfling are Kender and use the options from DL1 Dragons of Despair. Aasimar are Phaethons, reference Races of Ansalon p210, Dragonborn are Draconians, reference Dragons of Krynn p77, Goliath are Half-Giants, Orc’s are half-ogres, Tieflings appeared during the Chaos War from the rift to the Abyss. All player options will be from the 2024 Player’s Handbook for the first tier of play.
